. . . and they share that love with Italia in Ohio Members
This month the Wexner Center for the Arts, in collaboration with Luce Cinecittà Roma, is presenting a nine-film retrospective of Anna Magnani performances. The 35mm prints span 1941 through 1950 and include some of her most notable classics like “Roma città aperta”. Many of the great Italian directors are represented: Roberto Rossellini, Luchino Visconti, and Vittorio De Sica.
The Wex is happy to extend a discount on tickets to members and friends of Italia in Ohio to the Anna Magnani Retrospective (January 12-29), and also Fire at Sea (January 24). Simply enter ‘ITALIAINOH’ in the promotional code field when ordering tickets online to receive $5 entry.
Even better, the Sunday 29 January double feature performance of Abbaso la miseria and Abbaso la ricchezza will be at no-charge to us. Simply e-mail Sergio@ItaliaInOhio.com with the names of attendees and we will have your tickets waiting at willcall. After the second feature there will be a private reception for Italia in Ohio attendees at the Wex Café to discuss the films and enjoy refreshments.
Join us for these films. You will relive the pre-and-post-war evolution of the Italian cinema scene, delve into the richness of Anna Magnani’s characters, and in addition pick up some new Italian phrases (English subtitles).
